Dear Participant,

As a doctoral student and research assistant at the Chair of Didactics of Politics and Civic Education at the University of Hildesheim, I am conducting a study on place-oriented identities among teachers in Scotland and their perceptions of this topic.

Data collection will take place online and is based on a questionnaire. The questionnaire primarily consists of standardized questions with four response options, along with a few open-ended questions. In addition, some participants may be invited to take part in follow-up interviews, which will be recorded, transcribed and anonymized. The data collected includes information on your political interest, political orientation, teaching practices, demographic background as well as personal information such as gender and age.

All responses will be treated with strict confidentiality and used solely for research purposes. Your data will not be shared with third parties. Participation is entirely voluntary, and your anonymity will be preserved throughout the study. You may skip any question or part of the interview and may withdraw from the study at any time without giving a reason.
The provision of your data is entirely voluntary. You also have the following rights under data protection law with respect to the Chair of Didactics of Politics and Civic Education: the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), the right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), the right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), and the right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR). Please note that the right to data portability does not apply in this case (Art. 20(3), sentence 2 GDPR).

If the processing of your data is based on your consent, you may withdraw this consent at any time. The legality of any processing carried out prior to your withdrawal remains unaffected. After withdrawal, your data will be deleted immediately. All personal data collected will also be deleted no later than ten years after the completion of the research project.

Refusing or withdrawing your consent will not result in any disadvantages for you. The collection of your data is based on your consent in accordance with Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Your declaration of consent, interview, and questionnaire will never be linked in a way that allows identification. It will not be possible to trace your answers back to you personally.
